Registration is now open for the Free Software Foundation's
seminar on GPL Enforcement and Legal Ethics, which is being held on
Thursday, September 27th, 2018, at the UC Berkeley School of Law.
The Free Software Foundation (FSF) is the recognized canonical source
on best practices for the use of GNU licenses. As stewards of the GNU
family of licenses, we provide a wide variety of resources for helping
developers and lawyers alike to improve their understanding of
software freedom. In addition to published resources, we also
routinely provide in-person instruction in the form of continuing
legal education seminars. The FSF is proud to announce again that
we are offering a seminar to take place on the west coast on September
27th. Register here!
Attendees of this full-day, five-session seminar will learn about:
Copyleft and other important concepts in the GNU family of licenses,
including the General Public License;
Best practices in the free software licensing enforcement process;
Implementing a compliance program;
Government procurement of free software;
Current topics in free software licensing; and
Ethical considerations important to any lawyer working with clients
involved in free software.
While registration is open to the public, this seminar is a special
opportunity for law students and legal professionals, who can
potentially earn continuing legal education (CLE) credits for
participating. An application requesting MCLE credit for this activity
is pending for approval by the State Bar of California.

FSF's licensing & compliance manager. FSF executive director John
Sullivan will also be giving introductory and closing remarks.
