Declaración de ARMA sobre el aniversario de la tragedia del 11 de
septiembre
El Fundamentalismo es el Enemigo de toda la Humanidad Civilizada
ARMA se une al resto del mundo civilizado en recuerdo de las vidas inicentes
perdidas el 11 de septiembre, así como de todas aquéllas perdidas a causa
del terrorismo y de la opresión alrededor del mundo. Es con gran tristeza
que ARMA ve como otro pueblo experimenta el dolor que las mujeres, los
niños y los hombres de Afganistán han sufrido durante largo tiempo a manos
de los terroristas fundamentalistas.
Durante diez largos años el pueblo de Afganistán -las mujeres afganas en
particular- han sido aniquilados y brutalizados, primero bajo las
cadenas y atrozidades de los fundamentalistas de la "Alianza del
Norte", después bajo las de los Talibanes. Durante todo este período
los gobiernos de las potencias occidentales estuvieron inclinados a
encontrar maneras para "trabajar con" estos criminales. A estos
gobiernos occidentales no les quitaba mucho el sueño la rutina diaria de
abjecta miseria que nuestro pueblo soportaba bajo la dominación de estas
bandas terroristas. No era mucho problema para ellos que los derechos
humanos y los principios democráticos estuvieran siendo pisoteados a diario
de una manera inconcevible. Lo que era importante era "trabajar
con" los religio-fascistas para llevar los oleoductos de Asia Cental a
puertos accesibles a los navíos.
Inmediatamente después de la tragedia del 11 de septiembre los militares
americanos pudieron entrar en acción para castigar a sus antiguos
mercenarios. Un Afganistán cautivo, desangrado, devastado, hambriento,
empobrecido, azotado por la sequía y malogrado, fue bombardeado hasta ser
arrasado por el aramento más avanzado y sofisticado nunca creado en la
historia humana. Se perdieron vidas inocentes, muchas más que aquéllos que
perdieron sus vidas en la atrocidad del 11 de septiembre. Ni siquiera se
respetaron las alegres celebraciones de las bodas. El régimen Taliban y su
apoyo al-Qaeda fueron derrocados sin dañar significativamente sus
recursos humanos de combate. Lo que no suprimió fue la amenaza de la
siniestra sombra de la amenaza terrorista sobre el mundo ni su alter ego, el
terrosimo dundamentalista.
Ni el cultivo del opio ni los señores de la guerra han sido erradicados de
Afganistan. No hay ni paz ni estabilidad en este atormentado país, ni ha
habido ningún alivio de los azotes del empobrecimiento extremo, la
prostitución y el pillage desenfrenado. Las mujeres se sienten mucho mñas
inseguras que en el pasado. El amargo hecho de que ni siquiera la seguridad
personal del Presidente del país no pueda mantenerse sin recurrir a
guardaespaldas estranjeros y los recienets actos terroristas en nuestro país
hablan elocuentemente acerca de la caótica situación del país,
dominada por los terroristas. ¿Por qué esto es así? ¿Por qué el
atronador alboroto tras el 11 de septiembre se quedó en nada? Por las
siguientes razones, las cuáles ARMA ha reiterado una y otra vez:
1.- Para el pueblo de Afganistán, es "salir de Málaga para ir a Malagón".
En lugar de terroristas talibanes, se ha instalado en el poder a
los terroristas de la Jihad de la "Alianza del Norte". Los
fundamentalistas de la Jihad y los talibanes comparten una ideología común;
sus diferencias son las habituales entre hermanos del mismo credo.
2.- Durante más o menos lo súltimos 20 años, Osama bin Laden ha tenido a
los fundamentalistas afganos en nómina y ha estado pagando a sus
dirigentes considerables estipendios. Él y el Mulá Omar, junto con una
banda de seguidores equipados con los medios de comunicación necesarios,
pueden vivir durante muchos años bajo la protección de diferentes bandas
fundamentalistas en Afganistán y Pakistán y continuar conspirando contra
el pueblo de Afganistán y el resto de la humanidad.
3.- Los fenómenos Talián y al-Qaeda, como manifestaciones de una ideología
y de una cultura política que infecta a un país islámico, podría sólo
ser desarraigada mediante una insurrección popular el reforzamiento y el
acceso al poder de fuerzas seculares democráticas. Una purga tal no puede
ser efectuada meramente con la eliminación física de los tipos como Osama
y el Mulá Omar.
La "Alianza del Norte" nunca puede sinceramente querer la
eliminación total de los talibanes y al-Qaeda, puesto que tal eliminación
supondría el din de la razón de ser del respaldo y el extendido apoyo que
reciben por parte de las fuerzas extranjeras que actualmente dominan el país.
Esta era la lógica tras el slogan de ARMA llamando al derrocamiento de los
talibanes y al-Qaeda a través de una insurrección popular.
Desafortunadamente, antes de que esta insurreción pudiera llegar, los
talibanes y al-Qaeda perdieron sus posiciones a manos de "los hermanos
de la 'Alianza del Norte'" sin sufrir ningún diezmamiento que les
hicera inoperativos.
Con su segunda ocupación de Kabul, la "Alianza del Norte"
frustraron toda esperanza de un cambio radical y significativo. Ellos son
ahora la raíz de la inseguridad, de la escandalosa atmósfera policial
de la Loya Jirga, del terrorismo desenfrenado, del amordazamiento de la
democracia, de las atroces violaciones de los derechos humanos, del
empobrecimiento creciente, de la prostitución y la corrupción, del
florecimineto del cultivo de adormidera, del fracaso en inicar la
recosntrucción, y de toda una lista de otros males, demasiado larga como
para enumerarlos.
La opresión y los crímenes contra las mujeres son muy comunes de muy
diferentes formas a lo largo del país. ARMA siempre ha mantenido que
el rabioso odio de los fundamentalistas en contra de considerar a las
mujeres como seres humanos en igualdad -sean fundamentalistas de la marca
Jihad o de la talibán- no se debe meramente a su educación insana o a su
mente enfermiza, sino que emana de su perspectiva del mundo ideológicamente
religio-fascista. En tanto que esta ideología exista, sostenida por fuerzas
militares a su disposición, ni la disparatada misoginia ni toda una
miríada de vergonzosos males sociales asociados con ella podrán ser
erradicados. Este no es un problema que se peuda resolver con un
"Ministerio de Asuntos de las Mujeres" ni por la presencia de un
par de mujeres simbólicas en altas posiciones del gobierno. Esperar el
logro de la libertad, la democracia y la igualdad dentro del marco de un
sistema etno-chovinista, corrupto y basado en la religión es o autoegaño
o hipocresía - o ambas.
No nos alegra el hecho de que las predicciones de ARMA
respecto a las consecuencias de la vuelta a la dominación de la
"Alianza del Norte" una vez más se hayan cumplido. Aquéllos
que afirmaban que la "Alianza del Norte" era mejor, y por tanto
preferible, a los talibanes, deben despertar y pedir perdón a nuestro
pueblo por sus nocivos sermones. El establecimiento de la democracia y la
justica social sólo puede ser posible con el derrocamiento de la
dominación fundamentalista como una precondición fundamental. Esto no se
puede lograr sin una campaña organizada e irreconciliable de las masas de
las mujeres contra el fundamentalismo, sus agentes y sus apologistas.
Algunas entidades en bancarrota política, que no tienen verguenza en
arrastrarse ante la "Alianza del Norte" en la esperanza de asegurar
puestos y emplumar sus nidos, etiquetan a ARMA como "Maoísta" y
"radical" a causa de nuestros decisivos e irerconciliables puntos
de vista y posiciones. Pero la actual situación en el país, ¿prueba
la falacia de las posiciones de ARMA, o bien da una bofetada en la cara
de las señoras y los caballeros con la inclinación de pactar a
costa del pueblo y de ser excesivamente circunspectos? Lo
sasesinatos de un vicepresidente y de un ministro del gobierno y la
prohibición de investigar estos asesinatos, el descubrimiento de tumbas
colectivas, la prohibición de mujeres cantantes y actrices y de mostrar
bailes en la TV, la censura de los medios de prensa, las arbitrarias fatwas
de falta de fé y apostasía contra las mujeres, las violaciones
colectivas de incluso mujeres expatriadas que trabajan para ONGs
internacionales, la repugnante campaña para hacer un ídolo dde Amed Sha Masud
¿no son suficientes para darse cuenta de que la indulgencia y la
permisividad hacia los perros rabiosos sólo sirve para hacerlos más
feroces?
La experriencia de ARMA en combatir el fundamentalismo, en particular
durante los últimos 10 años, nos motiva para ser más persistentes en
nuestros intentos para movilizar a las mujeres hasta en los mñas remotos
rincones de nuestro país. Al mismo tiempo, no desistiremos de seguir una
política irreconciliable hacia el fundamentalismo y manteniendo la
solidaridad con todas las fuerzas pro-democracia. Creemos firmemente
que además de causar la trágica muerte de cerca de 3000 inocentes
ameericanos y no americanos y el dolor y la aflición de decenas de miles más,
el monstruoso atque terrorista del 11 de septiembre mostró al mundo qué inicua
pestilencia es el fundamentalismo; mostró al mundo la clase de infierno en
que viven los pueblos de Afganistán, Irán, Argelia, Sudán y otros países
semejantes.
El fundamentalismo es el enemigo mortal de la humanidad civilizada;
dominarlo demanda la acción concentrada de todas las naciones amantes de la
libertad del mundo. La actual "coalición mundial antiterrorista"
se ha deshonrado a causa de innumerables ambiguedades y puntos
oscuros en sus propósitos, motivaciones y objetivos. Las contradicciones
entre las potencias mundiales anunciarán su perdición. Por lo tanto, le
incumbe a los individuos y organizaciones anti-fundamentalistas luchando
por la justicia social en todo el mundo caminar juntos para contener y
finalmente extirpar, de una vez por todas, las alimañas del
fundamentalismo, para que la tragedia del 11 de septiembre nunca se repita,
ni en los EE.UU. ni en ninguna otra parte.
ARMA está orgullosa del hecho de que hasta ahora hemos sido capaces de
establecer contacto con un considerable número de organizaciones
antiterroristas en los cinco continentes y disfrutar de su apoyo moral y
material. Sin embargo, para el propósito de combatir una más rápida y más
amplia lucha contra el terrorismo, es necesario que esta solidaridad se amplíe
y se refuerce. En relación con esto estrechamos la mano de todos los
individuos y organizaciones amantes de la libertad.
Nos gustaría aprovechar esta oportunidad para, una vez más, hacer
llegar nuestras más sinceras condolencias a todos aquéllos que perdieron
sus seres queridos en la salvaje calamidad del 11 de septiembre, así como a
los amigos y familias de aquellos inocentes compatriotas -por lo que
nosotros sabemos, anti-talibanes y anti-"Alianza del Norte"-
quienes fueron hechos añicos por el bombardeo aéreo americano.
Sinceramente esperamos que un vasto número de aquéllos que están
afligidos y apenadospor sus seres queridos se unirán, antes o después, a
las filas de las legiones que se movilizan contra el fascismo
fundamentalista en sus respectivos países y a nivel internacional.
¡No a al-Qaeda, No a los Talibanes, No a la "Alianza del Norte"!
¡Larga Vida a un Afganistán Libre, Democrático y Floreciente!

RAWA Statement on the anniversary of the
September 11 tragedy
Fundamentalism is the Enemy of All Civilized Humanity
RAWA joins with the rest of the civilized world in remembering the
innocent lives lost on September 11th, as well as all those others lost
to terrorism and oppression throughout the world. It is with great
sadness that RAWA sees other people experiencing the pain that the
women, children and men of Afghanistan have long suffered at the hands
of fundamentalist terrorists.
For ten long years the people of Afghanistan -Afghan women in
particular- have been crushed and brutalized, first under the chains and
atrocities of the "Northern Alliance" fundamentalists, then under those
of the Taliban. During all this period, the governments of the Western
powers were bent on finding ways to "work with" these criminals. These
Western governments did not lose much sleep over the daily grind of
abject misery our people were enduring under the domination of these
terrorist bands. To them it did not matter so very much that human
rights and democratic principles were being trampled on a daily basis in
an inconceivable manner. What was important was to "work with" the
religio-fascists to have Central Asian oil pipelines extended to
accessible ports of shipment.
Immediately after the September 11 tragedy American military might moved
into action to punish its erstwhile hirelings. A captive, bleeding,
devastated, hungry, pauperized, drought-stricken and ill-starred
Afghanistan was bombed into oblivion by the most advanced and
sophisticated weaponry ever created in human history. Innocent lives,
many more than those who lost their lives in the September 11 atrocity,
were taken. Even joyous wedding gatherings were not spared. The Taliban
regime and its al-Qaeda support were toppled without any significant
dent in their human combat resources. What was not done away with was
the sinister shadow of terrorist threat over the whole world and its
alter ego, fundamentalist terrorism.
Neither opium cultivation nor warlordism have been eradicated in
Afghanistan. There is neither peace nor stability in this tormented
country, nor has there been any relief from the scourges of extreme
pauperization, prostitution, and wanton plunder. Women feel much more
insecure than in the past. The bitter fact that even the personal
security of the President of the country cannot be maintained without
recourse to foreign bodyguards and the recent terrorist acts in our
country speak eloquent volumes about the chaotic and terrorist-ridden
situation of the country. Why is it so? Why has the thunderous uproar in
the aftermath of September 11 resulted in nothing? For the following
reasons which RAWA has reiterated time and again:
1. For the people of Afghanistan, it is "out of the frying pan, into the
fire". Instead of the Taliban terrorists, Jihadi terrorists of the
"Northern Alliance" have been installed in power. The Jihadi and the
Taliban fundamentalists share a common ideology; their differences are
the usual differences between brethren-in-creed.
2. For the past more or less twenty years, Osama bin Laden has had
Afghan fundamentalists on his payroll and has been paying their leaders
considerable stipends. He and Mullah Omar, together with a band of
followers equipped with the necessary communication resources, can live
for many years under the protection of different fundamentalist bands in
Afghanistan and Pakistan and continue to plot against the people of
Afghanistan and the rest of humankind.
3. The Taliban and the al-Qaeda phenomena, as manifestations of an
ideology and a political culture infesting an Islamic country, could
only have been uprooted by a popular insurrection and the strengthening
and coming to power of secular democratic forces. Such a purge cannot be
effected solely with the physical elimination of the likes of Osama and
Mullah Omar.
The "Northern Alliance" can never sincerely want the total elimination
of the Taliban and the al-Qaeda, as such elimination would mean the end
of the raison d'être of the backing and support extended to them by
foreign forces presently dominant in the country. This was the rationale
behind RAWA's slogan for the overthrow of the Taliban and al-Qaeda
through popular insurrection. Unfortunately, before such popular
insurrection could come about, the Taliban and al-Qaeda forfeited their
positions to the "brethren of the 'Northern Alliance'" without suffering
any crippling decimation.
With their second occupation of Kabul, the "Northern Alliance" thwarted
any hopes for a radical, meaningful change. They are themselves now the
source and root of insecurity, the disgraceful police atmosphere of the
Loya Jirga, rampant terrorism, gagging of democracy, atrocious
violations of human rights, mounting pauperization, prostitution and
corruption, the flourishing of poppy cultivation, failure of beginning
to reconstruct, and a host of further unlisted evils, too many to
enumerate.
Oppression and crimes against women are rife in different forms
throughout the country. RAWA has always maintained that the
fundamentalists' rabid hatred of women as equal human beings -be they
fundamentalists of the Jihadi brand or of the Taliban one- is not due
merely to their unhealthy upbringing or morbid mind frame, but emanates
from their religio-fascistic ideological world outlook. As long as such
an ideology exists, propped up by military forces available at its
disposal, neither crazed misogyny nor a myriad of shameful social evils
associated with it can be eradicated. This is not a problem that can be
dealt with by the creation of a "Ministry of Women's Affairs" nor by the
presence of a couple of token women in high government positions. To
hope for the attainment of freedom, democracy and equality within the
framework of a corrupt, religion-based, ethno-chauvinistic system is
either self-delusion or hypocrisy -or both.
We find no happiness in the fact that RAWA's predictions in regard to
the consequences of the re-domination of the "Northern Alliance" have
once again been borne out. Those who claimed that the "Northern
Alliance" were better than, and therefore preferable to, the Taliban
must wake up and apologise to our people for their noxious sermons. The
establishment of democracy and social justice can be possible only with
the overthrow of fundamentalist domination as a prime precondition. This
cannot be achieved without an organised and irreconcilable campaign of
the women masses against fundamentalism, its agents and apologists.
Some politically bankrupt entities who have no shame in grovelling to
the "Northern Alliance" in the hope of securing positions and feathering
their nests, label RAWA as "Maoist" and "radical" because of our
decisive and irreconcilable stances and viewpoints. But does the current
situation in the country prove the fallacy of RAWA's positions or do
they give a slap in the face to the ladies and gentleman with the
penchant for being colluding and mealy-mouthed? The assassinations of a
vice president and a cabinet minister and the ban on investigating these
murders, the discovery of mass graves, the banning of women singers and
artists and showing of dancing on TV, the censorship of the media,
arbitrary fatwas of kofr and apostasy against women, gang rapes of even
expatriate women working for international NGOs, the disgusting campaign
of making an idol out of Ahmad Shah Masoud, are these not enough to
bring home the realisation that indulgence and permissiveness towards
rabid dogs only serve to make them more ferocious?
RAWA's experience in fighting fundamentalism, particularly during the
past 10 years, motivates us to be all the more persistent in our
attempts to mobilise women even in the most remote corners of our
country. At the same time, we shall not desist from pursuing an
irreconcilable policy towards fundamentalism and standing in solidarity
with all pro-democracy forces. We staunchly believe that in addition to
causing the tragic deaths of over 3,000 innocent Americans and
non-Americans and the sorrow and bereavement of tens of thousands more,
the monstrous terrorist attack of September 11 showed the world what a
nefarious pestilence fundamentalism is; it showed the world the sort of
inferno the peoples of Afghanistan, Iran, Algeria, Sudan and other such
countries live in.
Fundamentalism is the mortal enemy of civilised humanity; to address it
demands the consolidated action of all freedom-loving nations of the
world. The present "world anti-terrorism coalition" has been debased by
innumerable ambiguities and impurities of purpose, motivation and
objectives. The contradictions between world powers will spell its doom.
Therefore, it behoves anti-fundamentalist individuals and organisations
working for social justice the world over to draw together without
hesitation to contain and ultimately stamp out, once and for all, the
vermin of fundamentalism, so that the tragedy of September 11 will never
be repeated, neither in America nor anywhere else.
RAWA takes pride in the fact that up till now we have been able to
establish contact with a considerable number of anti-terrorist
organisations on all five continents and enjoy their moral and material
support. However, for the purpose of waging a swifter and more
encompassing fight against terrorism, it is necessary for such
solidarity to be expanded and strengthened. In this connection we shake
the hands of all freedom-loving individuals and organisations.
We would like to avail ourselves of this opportunity to once again
extend our heartfelt condolences to all those who lost their loved ones
in the savage calamity of September 11, as well as to the friends and
families of those innocent compatriots -for all we know, anti-Taliban
and anti-"Northern Alliance"- who were blown to shreds by American
aerial bombardment. We sincerely hope that a vast number of those who
are bereaved and grieving for their loved ones will, sooner or later,
join the ranks of the legions mobilising against fundamentalist fascism
in their respective countries and on an international level.
No to Al-Qaeda, No to the Taliban, No to the "Northern Alliance"!

fundamentalists' rabid hatred of women as equal human beings -be they
fundamentalists of the Jihadi brand or of the Taliban one- is not due
merely to their unhealthy upbringing or morbid mind frame, but emanates
from their religio-fascistic ideological world outlook. As long as such
an ideology exists, propped up by military forces available at its
disposal, neither crazed misogyny nor a myriad of shameful social evils
associated with it can be eradicated. This is not a problem that can be
dealt with by the creation of a "Ministry of Women's Affairs" nor by the
presence of a couple of token women in high government positions. To
hope for the attainment of freedom, democracy and equality within the
framework of a corrupt, religion-based, ethno-chauvinistic system is
either self-delusion or hypocrisy -or both.
We find no happiness in the fact that RAWA's predictions in regard to
the consequences of the re-domination of the "Northern Alliance" have
once again been borne out. Those who claimed that the "Northern
Alliance" were better than, and therefore preferable to, the Taliban
must wake up and apologise to our people for their noxious sermons. The
establishment of democracy and social justice can be possible only with
the overthrow of fundamentalist domination as a prime precondition. This
cannot be achieved without an organised and irreconcilable campaign of
the women masses against fundamentalism, its agents and apologists.
Some politically bankrupt entities who have no shame in grovelling to
the "Northern Alliance" in the hope of securing positions and feathering
their nests, label RAWA as "Maoist" and "radical" because of our
decisive and irreconcilable stances and viewpoints. But does the current
situation in the country prove the fallacy of RAWA's positions or do
they give a slap in the face to the ladies and gentleman with the
penchant for being colluding and mealy-mouthed? The assassinations of a
vice president and a cabinet minister and the ban on investigating these
murders, the discovery of mass graves, the banning of women singers and
artists and showing of dancing on TV, the censorship of the media,
arbitrary fatwas of kofr and apostasy against women, gang rapes of even
expatriate women working for international NGOs, the disgusting campaign
of making an idol out of Ahmad Shah Masoud, are these not enough to
bring home the realisation that indulgence and permissiveness towards
rabid dogs only serve to make them more ferocious?
RAWA's experience in fighting fundamentalism, particularly during the
past 10 years, motivates us to be all the more persistent in our
attempts to mobilise women even in the most remote corners of our
country. At the same time, we shall not desist from pursuing an
irreconcilable policy towards fundamentalism and standing in solidarity
with all pro-democracy forces. We staunchly believe that in addition to
causing the tragic deaths of over 3,000 innocent Americans and
non-Americans and the sorrow and bereavement of tens of thousands more,
the monstrous terrorist attack of September 11 showed the world what a
nefarious pestilence fundamentalism is; it showed the world the sort of
inferno the peoples of Afghanistan, Iran, Algeria, Sudan and other such
countries live in.
Fundamentalism is the mortal enemy of civilised humanity; to address it
demands the consolidated action of all freedom-loving nations of the
world. The present "world anti-terrorism coalition" has been debased by
innumerable ambiguities and impurities of purpose, motivation and
objectives. The contradictions between world powers will spell its doom.
Therefore, it behoves anti-fundamentalist individuals and organisations
working for social justice the world over to draw together without
hesitation to contain and ultimately stamp out, once and for all, the
vermin of fundamentalism, so that the tragedy of September 11 will never
be repeated, neither in America nor anywhere else.
RAWA takes pride in the fact that up till now we have been able to
establish contact with a considerable number of anti-terrorist
organisations on all five continents and enjoy their moral and material
support. However, for the purpose of waging a swifter and more
encompassing fight against terrorism, it is necessary for such
solidarity to be expanded and strengthened. In this connection we shake
the hands of all freedom-loving individuals and organisations.
We would like to avail ourselves of this opportunity to once again
extend our heartfelt condolences to all those who lost their loved ones
in the savage calamity of September 11, as well as to the friends and
families of those innocent compatriots -for all we know, anti-Taliban
and anti-"Northern Alliance"- who were blown to shreds by American
aerial bombardment. We sincerely hope that a vast number of those who
are bereaved and grieving for their loved ones will, sooner or later,
join the ranks of the legions mobilising against fundamentalist fascism
in their respective countries and on an international level.
No to Al-Qaeda, No to the Taliban, No to the "Northern Alliance"!
